Baseball in the Hall of Fame A documentary for public access television Project Summary | Interviews | Feedback |
Project Summary
A 90-120 minute video documentary produced by Kelly A. Jefferson for public access television. Scheduled for distribution throughout New England by 3/31/97 for cablecasting during April.
NOTE: Due to budget constraints, the completion of this project is delayed. If you can provide additional funding or know of potential funding sources, please e-mail the producer. Project documentation and references will be provided to interested potential funders.Thesis
Baseball has a long, rich history in New England. Individuals and teams from this region are an essential part of baseball's past and present, and are abundantly represented in the gallery and exhibits of the National Baseball Hall of Fame.Concept Development
This project was inspired by a 1995 trip to the National Baseball Hall of Fame. After seeing the prominence of the Boston Red Sox and Boston Braves in the museum's exhibits, the producer decided to create a video documentary exploring the contributions of New England players and teams to professional baseball as displayed in the Hall of Fame. The project's overall goal is to present a combination of historical and contemporary information of interest, centered around the region's two prominent major league teams -- the Red Sox and Braves -- and the hall of famers who played for them. Added depth and excitement will be contributed by ancillary information such as:
- Baseball players who either came from or played in New England, whose career achievements are noted in Hall of Fame exhibits
- Events which took place in New England and have historical significance
- New Englanders who have been involved in baseball in other ways
- "Little-known facts," interesting trivia tidbits which would be fun to know.
