Some people collect baseball memorabilia for its monetary value.  I collect for fun.  My collection (much of which I have given to my son) is small, but each and every item has personal significance for me.  I obtained most of what I have during production of my documentary, New England Baseball in the Hall of Fame, through which I met many current and former baseball stars.
